This superb trek along less trodden trails provides an excellent alternative to the popular Everest Base Camp trek.

We enjoy the warm Sherpa hospitality s we ascend the trails alongside the Dudh Khosi river valley through rhododendron and conifer forest to the yak herder settlement of Gokyo. We ascend Gokyo Ri (5360m) from which we enjoy the magnificent view of four of the world's highest peaks over 8000m Cho Oyu, Makalu, Lhotse and the incredible Mount Everest, a truly memorable experience.

The magnificent Ngozumpa glacier, the longest in Nepal and the sparkling turquoise glacial lakes set among glistening snow-capped peaks make this a very special trek. exploring the famous Thyangboche monastery and the traditional Sherpa village of Khumjung where we can see the school and hospital built by Sir Edmund Hilary, we take the exciting Himalayan flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu affording spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

Itinerary

 

Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu meet at airport & transfer to Hotel. Rest of the time free overnight Hotel.

 

Day 2: Breakfast. A. M: sightseeing of Kathmandu city, Swayambhunath, Patan city, Boudhanath. Overnight Hotel.

 

Day 3: Breakfast. Transfer to airport to connect Lukla flight. Arrive Lukla (2800m). Trek to Phakding for about 5/6 hours

 

Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazzar (3440m) for above 6/7 hours.

 

Day 5: Namche Bazzar-rest day for acclimatization.

 

Day 6: Trek to Dole (4200m) for about 6/7 hours.

 

Day 7: Trek to Machermo (4410m) for about 4/5 hours.

 

Day 8: Trek to Gokyo Lake (4750m) for about4/5 hours.

 

Day 9: Visit Gokyo-Re (5360m) and back to Gokyo Lake.

 

Day 10: Trek to Fortes (3840m) for about 7/8 hours.

 

Day 11: Trek to Tyangboche (3867m) for about 3/4 hours.

 

Day 12: Trek to Khumjung or Namche (3790m) for about 5/6 hours.

 

Day 13: Trek to Phakding (2600m) for about 6/7 hour.

Day 14: Trek to Lukla for about 5/6 hours.

 

Day 15: Fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla. Meet at Kathmandu airport & transfer to Hotel. Rest of day free. Dinner overnight-Hotel.
